The source for The White Warrior was Leo Tolstoy's novel Hadji Murad, which was based upon Tolstoy's personal experiences in the Russian army, when he was sent to the Caucasus to help defeat Murad and his rebel forces. The White Warrior is an epic retelling of one of the greatest stories ever written.
