This documentary charts the mass exodus of 7 million Irish men and women from 19th century Ireland to America. Narrated by Kelly McGillis, this poignant production personalizes the transatlantic journey by focusing on the lives of 8 immigrants. Letters they wrote home to Ireland describing their experiences in America are read by Liam Neeson, Gabriel Byrne and Aidan Quinn. The accompanying CD features many of Americas most famous Irish musicians such as Seamus Egan, Mick Moloney, Eileen Ivers and many more. Also included is a 32 page booklet featuring selections from the book, OUT OF IRELAND, including very moving letters written home to Ireland and many beautiful photographs.
