After a sensational trial, gangster Nat Girard is acquitted of murder. Girard's attorney, Redfield, invites the press to a victory party at his apartment. During the festivities Redfield is murdered, right in front of the flashing press cameras. A mysterious woman is suspected but she is able to escape into photographer Kent Murdoch's apartment on the floor below. The woman, Meg Archer, convinces Kent of her innocence and the two join forces to find the true killer. Tracking a lead, Meg is killed and Kent vows to avenge her murder.

Lew Ayres, the star of Murder with Pictures, had an amazingly steady career beginning in 1930 with his fourth film, All Quiet on the Western Front. He is probably best remembered for playing the title role in MGM's popular Dr. Kildare series. Always dependable, he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor in 1948 for his work in Johnny Belinda. In the 1950s he made the transition to TV and had a recurring role in the original "Hawaii Five-0." Solid TV roles continued right up to his death in 1996. Murder with Pictures is an entertaining tough-as-nails whodunit with noir overtones.
