NASA: The Spirit of Apollo

An intimate, behind the scenes look at the making of N.A.S.A.'s (North America South America) landmark debut LP, The Spirit of Apollo. Created by two close friends and musical aficionados from opposite hemispheres, Sam Spiegel and DJ Zegon, the album features jaw dropping collaborations between many of the pair's heroes, legends, and modern musical luminaries. The corresponding film documents the fruition of the project's central theme and focus: ignoring boundaries and bringing people together from completely different worlds in order to create unique and unexpected art. Directed by Syd Garon and Sam Spiegel, N.A.S.A.: The Spirit of Apollo follows Sam and Ze's globetrotting musical adventures with Kanye West, George Clinton, RZA, M.I.A., Santigold, Tom Waits, Spank Rock, Ol' Dirty Bastard, Method Man, David Byrne, Lykke Li, Sizzla, Nick Zinner of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, E-40, Kool Keith, Chali 2na, Gift of Gab, Chuck D, Cee Lo Green and many more. In addition to the music, the film contains intriguing and imaginative music videos for many of the album's tracks featuring unprecedented animated/live action collaborations by visual artists including Shepard Fairey, Sage Vaughn, Marcel Dzama, Stephan Doitschinoff and The Date Farmers, as well as critically acclaimed directors and animators including Syd Garon, Flourescent Hill, Logan, Three Legged Legs, Didiu Rio Branco, Lorna T, Jimena Oddi, Splunny, and Lorenzo Fonda.
