Happy Go Lovely

This highly- entertaining British-made musical is at once stylish and funny. Vera-Ellen, one of the era's finest dancers, stars as an aspiring chorus girl who is elevated to the lead role in a musical after its unwitting director (played perfectly by Cesar Romero) believes her to have a millionaire suitor who he hopes will rescue his fledgling production from financial ruin. David Niven is dashing in his role as the suitor in question, while the musical numbers are a joy. The film itself is set against the backdrop of Scotland's famed Edinburgh Festival.
