When Canada dissolves it sovereignty and merges with the United Sates, disgruntled former Prime Minster Tom McLaughlin (Paul Gross) schemes to subvert American politics from the inside out by running as the next presidential candidate. But first he'll have to deal with the ruthless incumbent President Stanfield (Tom Skerritt) and a pesky British journalist (Greta Scacchi) that is on to his game.
