Missy Elliott embarked on her career as a member of the R&B group Sista in the early 1990s. She later became part of the Swing Mob along with childhood friend and super producer Timbaland. Together they developed the sound for artists like Aaliyah, 702, Total, and SWV. In 1997, she launched her solo career with the release of her debut album Supa Dupa Fly.
