Seth Rogen's 'Sausage Party' gets red-band raunchy

If you had any fears that Seth Rogen's upcoming animated film was going to be family-friendly, today's arrival of Sausage Party's red-band trailer should put you at ease. In a word: @#$% no!

Sony is taking a chance by releasing the decidedly R-rated animated film banking on the Rogen and company's comedic genius. If this first taste is any indication, it looks like Sony's bet is going to pay off in a big, bad way.

You could make the argument that 2016 is the year of resurgence of R-rated films with the success of Deadpool already in the bank and plans for a future R-rated release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. However, an R-rated animated film is about as rare as seeing a unicorn prance around with bigfoot, so Sausage Party is entering mostly uncharted territory.

As for the footage showcased below, there are some pretty funny moments, but I'm going to reserve judgment until we see a little more of the film. Although, seeing baby carrots squirm in anticipation of being eaten looks a whole lot funnier than it sounds.

Sausage Party is set to debut in theaters on August 12.
