'Popstar' red-band trailer has arrived, is it good?

I'll be honest, I've watched this trailer for Popstar a dozen times and I'm still not sure if the film is going to be any good. It's either a master stroke or a giant swing and a miss - and I can decide which.

If you're confused, don't worry. Popstar is the film formerly known as Conner4Real, aka the Lonely Island movie. You know, Lonely Island, the musical/comedy troop spear-headed by Andy Samberg. You might remember them as having one of the most interesting moments at the 2015 Oscars show when they joined Tegan and Sara onstage to perform the Oscar-nominated song "Everything is Awesome" from The Lego Movie.

If you missed it, here's a taste.

When they announced a Lonely Island movie, I was intrigued as they are clearly funny and on the cutting edge of cool, but I had some reservations when they let out that it would be a parody of the music business. I mean, haven't we already done this before? In fact, it would be hard to match the greatness of Walk Hard in my mind, but they tried.

Heck, they even found a role for Tim Meadows. But, today's release of the red-band trailer has me scratching my head yet again. Naturally Samberg is front and center and there are some laughs - barely. The concerning thing though is that I just don't see a film here. Are they trying to remake Spinal Tap? Note to Hollywood: stop trying to remake Spinal Tap.

So, you tell me, does this look good? And will you go see it when it debuts in theaters on June 3?
