The white rabbit was obsessed with time in Alice in Wonderland, but it looks like Borat is set to take the baton in Alice Through the Looking Glass. In today's first look trailer, we get our first glimpse at the sequel to the popular Johnny Depp film from 2010.

Depp is back as the Mad Hatter and he's joined by most of the cast such as Mia Wasikowska (Alice), Anne Hathaway (White Queen) and Helena Bonham Carter (Red Queen). Among the newcomers is Rhys Ifans and Sacha Baron Cohen, with the latter playing the Time himself.

One of the most notable omissions from the sequel is behind the camera where director Tim Burton has stepped back into a producing role, handing the reins of the film to James Bobin who is best known for directing the Muppets films. Considering that the first film was praised for Burton's trademark visual style, it will be interesting to see how much the sequel strays away from this successful formula.

What we do see in the trailer though is encouraging and with the whole concept of time travel in this film, it opens up so many fertile avenues. Alice Through the Looking Glass is set for a May 27, 2016 date, please don't be late!
