'Foxcatcher' ramps up drama in new trailer

For a film about wrestling, there really hasn't been much wrestling at all in the trailers for Foxcatcher - and that's ok. To be honest, the film is more about the relationships between Olympic-caliber athletes and their coaches than it is about the sport of wrestling itself and really, that's ok too.

I've never hidden my disdain for Steve Carell or Channing Tatum. The fact that this is becoming one of my most anticipated films of the year speaks volumes for the film. Steve Carell is barely recognizable in the role of eccentric rich person cum wrestling coach and Channing Tatum emotes real emotion the likes of which I haven't seen since Mickey Rourke in, ironically, The Wrestler.

Trust me, I can guarantee you that there's more wrestling in The Wrestler than in Foxcatcher, but don't let that stop you from seeing it. The film is based on a true story and despite my pet peeve concerning the inability to spoil true events, I won't give anything away here. Suffice to say, they are doing a brilliant job at setting the stage for the film.

What's new in this trailer is most of the stuff from Mark Ruffalo. I've gotten it on good authority that he steals the scenes that he's in and he might just steal himself the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. In fact, this film is getting so much Oscar buzz that they might as well change the name to Oscarcatcher. Oh crap, I should probably trademark that lest other, less witty writers steal it later.

Oscarcatcher

There, that's better. Enjoy the trailer, Oscarcatcher™ hits theaters on November 14.
