It's December and those year-end compilations are upon us. The following montage from YouTube user hatinhad, a.k.a. Alex, summarizes the year in cinema with this deftly edited video.

In just over seven and a half minutes, he inter-cuts 166 major films released in 2011, alphabetically from The Adjustment Bureau to Zookeeper. It's a great way to revisit the best and worst this year had to offer.

The video includes five separate vignettes punctuated with some great songs. For those curious, here are the tunes featured:

  1. "Immigrant Song" by Karen O and Trent Reznor
  2. "Down Boy" by Yeah Yeah Yeah
  3. "The Masterplan" by Oasis
  4. "Can't Help Falling in Love" by Ingrid Michaelson
  5. "Grounds for Divorce" by Elbow

Interestingly, Alex's description of the video also mentions the films he omitted from this mix. I found his reasons for leaving out these movies in particular the most hilarious:

[I left out] Justin Bieber: Never Say Never, Glee: The 3D Concert Movie, and The Human Centipede 2, because I edited this in a public place and people would've looked at me funny.

You can also see the full list of clips included in hatinhand's anthology.

Job well done, Alex. We look forward to doing this again in 2012.
