You know what I love about the Internet? I love how small it can make the world seem sometimes. Despite being a vast landscape of limitless information and clutter, more times than not, the Internet can bring together people with common interests that wouldn't otherwise have ever met.

Case in point, Kees van Dijkhuizen.

I'm sure that almost every single one of you are looking at that name drawing a blank. And why wouldn't you?

Kees is an 18 year old film student/editor from the Netherlands, but thanks to YouTube he is reaching an audience in the millions with his video compilations. I first became aware of Kees' work with the "Cinema 2010" video that I've embedded below. The choice of clips and musical accompaniment floored me and moved me in such a way that it's quite impossible to watch this video and not fall in love all over again with the power of films.

For 2011, Kees set about on an ambitious project called the [the films of] series in which each month he would highlight the films and style of 12 directors. Well, to be fair, 11 directors and the films of Pixar.

I've been meaning to highlight this series for awhile now so that I could share his wonderful work with you, but it seems that I've always been distracted before sitting down to write it up. November's choice in [the films of] is one that I couldn't let pass you by.

You all know that I'm a huge Christopher Nolan fan and that I've been a student of his films from the beginning, so a marriage between Nolan's work and Kees van Dijkhuizen is a match made in heaven in my eyes. And thankfully after seeing the finished project, the end result did not disappoint my high expectations.

You can check out the other directors in this series such as Fincher, Burton and Anderson among others. The big secret is who will be the last director featured in December. If I were a betting man, my money would be Quentin Tarantino.

It should be quite exciting to see what Kees comes up with next as he enters his 20s.
