Todd Phillips is an interesting dude. Just one look at his resume and you know that he loves a great party as much as the next guy. So, it shouldn't come as any surprise the next movie from the guy behind The Hangover and Old School is basically one long party.

Or is it?

Project X has been shrouded in secrecy for the better part of a year with only scant details that it's basically a found-footage version of Superbad. Beyond that, not much was known about it until today.

A full-length trailer dropped and I'm left scratching my head a bit. Sure, on the surface it looks like your typical high school party on crack. I can see threads to The Blair Witch Project, Superbad and Risky Business, but what's up with all the flame throwers?

And to be frank, I think there's more than meets the eye with that dog. I can tell he's up to no good.

What starts as a harmless high school part quickly escalates into a full scale riot and something that more resembles District 9.

You don't believe me? Check out this still from the trailer.

You've seen the Nic Cage Civil War pictures that purport to make him out to be a vampire, well I submit the above as proof of time travel. It seems Phillips went back to the '80s and plucked Eddie Murphy off the set of SNL and transported him to the present to be in his party movie.

As for the Superbad comparison, I don't think you can argue against it after seeing this picture.

That's McLovin, Evan and Seth all over again. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Seth Rogen turned out to be one of those cops.

Project X is set for a March 2, 2012 release and is rated R for "crude and sexual content throughout, nudity, drugs, drinking, pervasive language, reckless behavior and mayhem - all involving teens." Where do I sign up?
