As they like to say this time of the year, "'Tis the season." Hot off last week's Golden Globes nominations, this week the American Film Institute did that what they do best and created a list, the ten best movies of 2008. However, unlike other lists, the AFI didn't try to rank the movies, but simply picked 10 movies that were superior to the rest.

The movies are (in no particular order):

The AFI will honor these 10 movies at a lunch on January 9. Tell us what you think of this list.

In response to some of our past stories, here are a few of your faves from the last year:

Hey guys. I know I am a day late but I thought I would chime in. I will just give you my top 5: 1. Wall-E 2. The Dark Knight 3. Let the Right One In 4. Slumdog Millionaire 5. Milk

Top 5 Movies of 2008

1- The Dark Knight: who really can argue how great the film is. It was simply beautiful and is not even closely contended this year.

2- Cloverfield: Yes I agree the film did not live up to the hype, but we have to consider all aspects of a movie, and for a movie with that much viral marketing, it showed it can bring in money. A dark horse if you will.

3- Wanted: The director is someone I never heard of, but this definitely forces me to keep an eye out for him.

4- Mama Mia!: This movie was more successful than I thought it could garnish, and because of it exceeding expectations, I think it was a top movie.

5- Iron Man: this was difficult because I was on the fence as Wall-E and Iron Man to me were equally as good, so I had to go with the gross to decide.

Honorable Mentions: Quantum of Solace, Wall-E, Indiana Jones

I'm the other guy who hasn't seen Dark Knight. Nice to know that there is another one of us out there.

I've only seen 2 of them. Wall-E and Iron Man. Both were awesome.
