Just as December is the month for Best of the Year lists, so too is it the time for Google (and other's) Top Searches for 2008. Well, we're no different. We've compiled the Top Requested Movies and People on our site for the year.

The list of most popular movies on our site in 2008 is not that surprising. As you'd anticipate, the number one movie of the year, The Dark Knight, is number one on our list. The Top 25 movies for the year were all released in 2007 or 2008. Obviously, our site is all about the latest hits.

In fact, you have to go down to position #221 to find a movie outside this two-year range. That rank goes to the much-rumored-but-not-yet-materialized The Goonies 2: The Goonies Never Say Die. (It appears we need to delete that record as Corey Feldman recently blasted rumors that the sequel would ever happen.)

  1. The Dark Knight
  2. Iron Man
  3. Wanted
  4. Forgetting Sarah Marshall
  5. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
  6. Cloverfield
  7. The Incredible Hulk
  8. Juno
  9. National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets
  10. There Will Be Blood
  11. Untraceable
  12. P.S. I Love You
  13. Hancock
  14. The Strangers
  15. 21
  16. Vantage Point
  17. Doomsday
  18. The Bank Job
  19. 10,000 B.C.
  20. Atonement
  21. The Forbidden Kingdom
  22. Never Back Down
  23. Into the Wild
  24. 88 Minutes
  25. Deception

On the other hand, the Top 25 most requested people on our site surprised us quite a bit. We always thought of our audience to be similar to the beautiful young women-obsessed group that is the rest of the internet. Turns out that is not the case. Fully 14 of our top 25 most popular stars of 2008 are men.

Only one of Yahoo's top five celebs (Jessica Alba) made our Top 25. Yahoo's over-all #9 Angelina Jolie only accounted for #30 on our list. However, Angie's significant other Brad Pitt came in as our top star for 2008.

  1. Brad Pitt
  2. Johnny Depp
  3. Zac Efron
  4. Jessica Alba
  5. Sylvester Stallone
  6. George Clooney
  7. Ashley Tisdale
  8. Dane Cook
  9. Eva Mendes
  10. Daniel Craig
  11. Heath Ledger
  12. Harrison Ford
  13. Robert Downey Jr.
  14. Christian Bale
  15. Jennifer Anniston
  16. Megan Fox
  17. Mariah Carey
  18. Jason Statham
  19. Sarah Jessica Parker
  20. Shia LaBeouf
  21. Adam Sandler
  22. Drew Barrymore
