Another pointless sequel: 'War Games 2' trailer (video)

I thought it couldn't get any worse than yesterday's direct-to-DVD release of The Cutting Edge: Chasing the Dream, but MGM is planning to strike again on July 29th with War Games: The Dead Code. Being a huge fan of hockey, I was hoping that The Cutting Edge 3 was some elaborate April Fool's Day joke ala Pasta Hut, but alas I was let down on both accounts.

And now, the trailer for War Games: The Dead Code has leaked out onto the Internet. Peter over at /Film found it yesterday and like any good car wreck, I had to look. To say that I'll never be able to look at the original classic movie in the same light again is an understatement.

Studios are quick to capitalize on their deep catalog of hits at the expense of the original movie's reputation. *cough* Slap Shot 2: Breaking the Ice *cough*. They say imitation is the highest form of flattery, I say a cheap knockoff, dulls the shine all around.
