Danny Boyle's much maligned and release date hopping Sunshine has finally found a home - for now. Sunshine has been moved up to a July 20th release in theaters.

The latest offering from the Trainspotting director is no stranger to the release date game. It was initially set for a U.S. release on October 13th, 2006, but post-production delays pushed it to March of this year. Then, it debuted around the world, but the U.S. premiere was moved to September.

Earlier this month, there were rumblings that Fox Searchlight was thinking of a December release or even an early 2008 bow. Then, out of the blue, comes word that the futuristic Sci-Fi thriller will get a wide release on July 20th. What a trip indeed.

In other release date jockeying, one of the Summer's biggest movies, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix moved up its release two days to July 11th, 2007. This move will give the movie a Wednesday release and a nice five day weekend in the middle of July.

Perhaps they were scared when they heard that Sunshine had moved into the neighborhood...
