Michael Bay has another horror remake in 'The Hitcher'

Michael Bay is a horror remakin' fool. His production company, Platinum Dunes, has its fifth remake of a classic horror movie coming next February.

The Hitcher, a re-working of the 1986 film starring C. Thomas Howell and Jennifer Jason Leigh, is due from Rogue Pictures on Apr. 13, 2007. Sophia Bush and Zachary Knighton will star as the traveling college kids tormented by a mysterious hitchhiker.

The Hitcher role made famous by a creepy Rutger Hauer goes to an equally creepy Sean Bean, the British actor most recently seen in Silent Hill and Flightplan.

Bay will only be attached as a producer of this film. His Platinum Dunes company has also produced 2003's The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake and this year's Chainsaw prequel. They also did last year's The Amityville Horror and they'll be doing next year's Friday the 13th sequel.

What's next, Mr. Bay? Poltergeist? Hellraiser? The Howling? Salem's Lot?
