Wolverine 'X-Men' spin-off movie promised for 2007

It's been rumored for some time but now it's official. Twentieth Century Fox will be releasing a Wolverine spin-off of its popular X-Men movie franchise some time next year. Hugh Jackman will once again don the Adamantium-plated claws of Wolverine.

The announcement came at the international exhibitors conference Cine Expo in Holland. The presentation included a taped message from Jackman backing-up Fox's promise.

Here's hoping it does better than Fox's other solo superhero spin-off -- Elektra, a spin-off from 2003's Daredevil. The Jennifer Garner starrer only managed $24 million at the box office.

No word on an exact release date for Wolverine but one could surmise that it'll take some time to get this surely FX-laden film in theaters.
