Director Bryan Singer had to cut a special scene from the forthcoming Superman Returns -- one which may eventually make its way onto the DVD.

Singer told Sci-Fi Wire that he filmed a scene where Superman (Brandon Routh) flies in a crystal ship to the remains of his home world of Krypton. The scene had to be whittled from an early cut of the film which stood at two hours and 45 minutes.

"It's very elegant, but... in the context of this movie—where this movie needed to be and what it needed to be about -- I didn't feel it," the director said.

Singer told Sci-Fi Wire he hopes the scene will be released at some point. "On DVD. Or, maybe, I think it should be on 3-D IMAX," he is quoted as saying. "At some point you'll see it, I'm sure sometime," he continues.

There are other deleted scenes which should appear on the inevitable DVD, Singer claims. The final running time of the film, coming to theaters June 28, is just under two and a half hours.
