Michael Bay books 'Friday the 13th'

Michael Bay, the iconic producer/director behind such big action flicks like Armageddon and Pearl Harbor, is breathing new life into the Friday the 13th horror franchise. His Platinum Dunes production company has agreed to produce a remake of Friday the 13th for New Line Cinema.

Platinum Dunes is getting a reputation for remaking classic horror flicks after releasing 2003's The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and following it up with this year's The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning due out on October 6th.

New Line initially hoped to have Friday the 13th Part 11 ready for release this year since October 13th falls on a Friday, but with the short production window and potentially competing with Bay's Chainsaw prequel may force Friday the 13th into 2007.
