'Brokeback Mountain' leads Golden Globe nominations

The nominees for this year's Golden Globe Awards were announced Tuesday morning and Brokeback Mountain leads the way with seven nods in the film categories.

The Ang Lee-directed film about a homosexual cowboy couple was nominated for Best Drama Picture along with The Constant Gardener, Good Night, and Good Luck, A History of Violence and Match Point. Films in the separate, Best Picture category for musicals and comedies were Mrs. Henderson Presents, Pride & Prejudice, The Producers, The Squid and the Whale, and Walk the Line.

Here is the full list of nominations for the 63rd Annual Golden Globe Awards in the film categories:

The Golden Globes often serve as a barometer for success in that other big award ceremony, the Academy Awards. The Globes' sponsor, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, also has categories for television which the Oscars do not.

The Globes will be handed out on Jan. 16 in an event broadcast on NBC.
