It's official: Jessica Simpson is Daisy Duke

Not longer after the announcement of Johnny Knoxville and Seann William Scott as her cousins, Jessica Simpson has been named for the very short denim shorts of Daisy Duke.

The Dukes of Hazzard is the big screen adaptation of the CBS TV series which ran from 1979 to 1985. Club Dread and Super Troopers star/director Jay Chandrasekhar will direct the feature.

This marks the feature film acting debut of Simpson. She has previously only appeared on sitcoms like "That '70s Show" and her own MTV reality show with hubby Nick Lachey. Jessica did appear as herself in the 2002 film Master of Disguise.
