AFI names its top ten films of 2003

It wouldn't be awards season if the king of all list makers failed to give us one last list, now would it? Well, fret not my friend, the American Film Institute (AFI for short) has narrowed the field of serious awards contenders with their list of the top 10 films of 2003.

In the spirit of trying to remain artistically motivated and politically correct, the AFI does not rank the best movies from one to ten, so here they are in no particular order:

Mystic River American Splendor Monster The Human Stain Lost in Translation The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King The Last Samurai Master and Commander In America Finding Nemo

I guess poor Gigli must have been unlucky number 11.
