J (Lo) And Silent Bob?

God herself is surely scratching her head at this one. According to various reputable web sites, Jennifer Lopez is close to signing on to Kevin Smith's new movie Jersey Girl.

If this uncanny signing comes to fruition, it would reteam Lopez with perennial Smith fave Ben Affleck. The pair recently finished filming Gigli with Al Pacino. Jersey Girl is set in the late '80s and early '90s and follows a man's (Affleck) acceptance of a new woman (Lopez) and her 6 year old daughter into his life. It's said to be partially based on Smith's own foray into fatherhood with his two year old daughter Harley Quinn Smith.

With Gigli set for a Spring 2003 release, it's looking like 2003 might become the year of Affleck. His comic book adaptation of Daredevil is set for release on January 17th and he's also got a Christmas movie called Surviving Christmas due out during the holidays. Jersey Girl is tentatively scheduled for a Fall 2003 release.
