Once a country music icon before he was sent to the big house, recently released felon Jake (John Savage) struggles to adjust to the modern world. Back in town and trying to figure out who set him up, he must avoid his angry ex-wife Bonnie (Sean Young), find his legendary guitar, the Black Dove, connect with a daughter he has never met, find out who set him up, stay out of trouble with the local mobster (Dave Della Rocco) and try to rise the top again.
