It's not often that we swerve into the land of TV here at the site, but every now and then we have to make an exception. Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is definitely worth the exception in my opinion.

Unless you've just returned from a deep space mission, you're familiar with the Marvel films that culminated in last year's film The Avengers. Well, that universe is leaping off of the big screen and will start invading our living rooms starting Tuesday - sort of.

Marvel guru and all-around bad-ass Joss Whedon (who directed The Avengers and will also do so for the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron) got the idea to take a fragment of the Marvel universe and craft it for the small screen. The result is the upcoming TV series Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

While there won't be weekly appearances from Iron Man or Thor or any other superheroes that you may have come to enjoy in the last five years or so, there will be at least one familiar face front and center: Agent Coulson. Of course, they do have to clear up that small detail concerning Coulson's death in The Avengers, but this is a comic book world and people come back from the dead all of the time.

So, we know that Clark Gregg will center the show and we will see Cobie Smulders' Agent Maria Hill occasionally this first season and more often after her contract with How I Met Your Mother runs out, but what else can we expect?

Well, let's hear it from the man himself. Joss?
