Back in those prudish '90s we all yearned for some good R-rated comedies. Everything had become toned-down and PG-13-afied. The fond days of Porky's, Stripes, and Animal House were long behind us.

The year 1999 brought us a teen sex comedy named American Pie. Its success paved the way for a brave new world of gratuitous nudity and adult situations in comedy. A raunchy resurgence, if you will. To paraphrase a line from the movie itself, "God bless, American Pie."

One of the best way to sample the latest R-rated fare is via the Red Band trailer. Instead of the typical green background of previews approved for all audiences, these restricted ones have an introductory warning in red.

That red represents the good stuff.

There were two very noteworthy red band releases this week. Both come from my list of the Best Movies of 2011 You Don't Know About Yet, published in January.

First up is The Change-Up starring Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman. It's a body-switching movie like Freaky Friday or Face/Off. This time Bateman's family man switches places with career bachelor Reynolds. Bateman's character has the best-ever explanation for kids. Take a gander:

[Editor's note: the following red-band trailers are intended for a mature audience and contain adult language or content. Please use your discretion.]

Now it's 30 Minutes or Less with Jesse Eisenberg and Aziz Ansari. These two pals have a falling out but must work together when Eisenberg's character is coerced into robbing a bank. You can tell they really let Ansari shine in this. Watch it:

So, what do you think? Have you put either of these movies on your mental watch-list? I know I'm up for both.

The Change-Up hits theaters on Aug. 5 and 30 Minutes or Less comes out a week later on Aug. 12.
