Video: Star Wars as a silent film

A long time ago in a theater not so far away, movies did not have sound. The advent of the "talkies" came in the late 1920s with the introduction of sound synchronized with film. Things like intertitles (the text cards which helped tell the story in silent films) went away.

But what if they didn't. What if that technological masterpiece Star Wars was a silent film. One inspired individual wondered just that and re-imagined the trilogy as a one minute, 15 second silent film.

The result is hilarious. (I always knew the slapstick of the Ewoks in Return of the Jedi would be good for something.)

If you poke around YouTube, you'll also find silent film treatments of Top Gun, Die Hard, and Dirty Dancing.

They certainly are the cat's meow.
